Skin tags is a generalized term for small tags of skin that occur in areas of skin friction. Skin tags may in fact represent several different types of lesions including warts, moles, keratoses, molluscum, hemangiomas and rarely skin cancer. If your skin tags are not changing you can ignore them. If they are changing in size or shape, or becoming irritated or inflamed you should consider having them looked at to make sure they are safe. “Normal” skin tags can be removed by gentle cautery or by snipping them off.
